Christine Basile, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C
My first degree from Bridgewater Sate College was in Elementary Education.
Difficulty finding a job at the time changed the trajectory of my working life. I went back to school to become an LPN which launched my career in Nursing. The flexibility of nursing allowed me to have a family with my husband who is a teacher. After 20 years in nursing in different roles from nursing home care to pediatrics, I reached the highest I could with what education I had at the time. Wanting to do more for my patients, I returned to school to get my Nurse Practitioner degree. This degree has allowed me to serve in a Community Health Center where I continued to grow in my Nurse Practitioner role. After 6 years, and more experience, I realized the overwhelming need for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. During COVID while still working I went back to school for a post graduate degree. Difficulty with getting precepted hours prolonged getting my degree, but this did not deter furthering my education and passing my second set of Boards with a specialty in Family and Psychiatic Mental Health.
I enjoy quilting, reading, going to the gym and kayaking. My partner and I live in the same house where we raised our children with our two dogs, Sabine (Pit Bull terrier, German Shepard mix) and Sadie (Great Dane, Pit Bull Terrier mix). When we are not walking our dogs, you may see us riding our Harley with our friends on the weekends (in the good weather for me).
