For many decades, vaccination has been the most important intervention to prevent serious disease in children. At Bridgewater Pediatrics, we follow the immunization recommendations and schedule of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Vaccination, according to this schedule, is very safe and effective in preventing devastating childhood diseases.
Based on numerous, rigorous medical studies, and decades of experience, vaccines have been found to be very safe for your child, and do not cause autism or other developmental problems.
Adherence to the recommended vaccine schedule is the single most important health decision that you can make for your family. It is also the best tool to ensure a healthy childhood. Vaccination protects your child and positively impacts the health of our communities.
Given the importance of vaccines to the health of your child, your family, and our communities, we are not able to accept patients into our practice who refuse recommended immunizations.
If you have questions about the recommended vaccine schedule, the medical providers of Bridgewater Pediatrics would be happy to speak with you.
Vitamin K injection of the newborn in the hospital prevents serious bleeding and death. Since 1961, the American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended that all infants receive vitamin K injection shortly after birth. Refusal of vitamin K injection places your infant at serious risk of bleeding in the brain, and death. Because of the extreme importance of vitamin K injection, we do not accept infants into our practice who have not received this lifesaving injection.
Bridgewater Pediatrics follows the immunization guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics(AAP). For information about these vaccines, the diseases they protect against, and our typical vaccination schedule, please visit our immunization page.
